A$AP Rocky and Rihanna’s Barbados Vacation Style Makes Me Want to Go On Vacation
You and I are vicariously on vacation by watching season 2 of The White Lotus. Rihanna and A$AP Rocky, naturally, are actually on vacation in Barbados. And, sheesh, have they been dressing.
The most fashionable couple in the world earned, if only briefly, the more localized designation of most fashionable couple in the the West Indies this past week, while they’ve been visiting Rihanna’s home country of Barbados. The new parents—perhaps on a “babymoon”?—seem to be clocking some very well-dressed, and probably much-needed, couple time: on Saturday, they caught the Imagine reggae show in Bridgetown and met up with dancehall legend Beenie Man backstage, where Rocky, intentionally or not, matched his chiseled trompe l’oeil Y/Project x Jean Paul Gaultier long-sleeve to both Rih’s lipstick-red Magda Butrym minidress and a conspicuous (likely Fenty) lipstick-red kiss mark on his cheek. Cute! 💋
If anything, this trip has been a prime opportunity for A$AP Rocky to really step into his wearing-shorts-at-night bag. He paired the aforementioned “Body Morph” tee with some just-past-the-knee olive cargo shorts, a wide-brimmed bucket hat, and his trusty Velcro-strapped Prada America’s Cup sneakers—a combination that would look goofy on anyone except A$AP Rocky. The next night, he went for a pair of roomy black shorts and a Miu Miu cropped black denim jacket worn over an ERL logo tee, accessorized with a White Sox hat and his semi-precious bedazzled “GRIM” belt, which is, incidentally, also the rumored title of his anticipated fourth studio album.
But perhaps Rocky’s most blissful vacay outfit came the next day, when he hit the beach minus his lady for some jet-skiing (which is, speaking of, not not a plot point on this season of The White Lotus). He stood on the shore wearing a pit crew-style rash guard covered with an unquantifiable array of fishing-adjacent logos—Bass Pro Shops, Monster Energy, and Glo-Pro Lures, to name a few—and equally logo-fied board shorts. Next to him on the sand sat a pair of wayward JJJJound Asics. As he grinned in his neon, neoprene-strapped Louis Vuitton sunglasses, he looked like an embodiment of Jake, Life is Good’s stick-figure mascot. And you know what? Sometimes life is good. Especially when you’re A$AP Rocky on vacation.
